I had the privilege of attending the ATAGTR 2023 conference at I2IT Engineering College in Pune on December 8th and 9th. The conference was a culmination of insightful sessions, engaging keynotes, and enriching panel discussions, making it one of the most significant testing conferences I have ever been a part of.
The event kicked off with a virtual workshop session on December 2nd and 3rd, setting the stage for the main conference. The physical event was packed with industry experts sharing their knowledge and experiences.
Noteworthy Sessions:
Ajay Balamurugadas – “Where Are The Real Testers In The Age of AI?”
- Ajay’s session underscored the role of AI in today’s world and how it can be harnessed for our benefit. His perspective on AI enhancing productivity rather than replacing jobs resonated well. Accepting AI as a tool to augment our work seemed like a logical evolution in the testing landscape.
Parish Sharma – “Building QA Leadership in a Start-up world “
- Parish’s session delved into the challenges faced in the startup world, highlighting the distinctions from MNCs, including differences in team size, infrastructure, and the diverse ways these challenges are managed in various situations.
Ashwini Lalit – “RRR of Test Automation Maintenance”
- Ashwini’s session, drawing parallels with real-time scenarios and movie situations, provided a relatable take on test automation issues. It was a creative and engaging way to address challenges and problem-solving in a project.
Seema Kohli – “Test Leadership in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”
- Seema’s session explored the integration of AI, particularly WatsonX by IBM, in addressing testing challenges. Real-world examples demonstrated how AI models have streamlined day-to-day activities, showcasing the ease of adaptation.
Nikhil Jain – “Catch All Mail With Graph”
- Nikhil’s session focused on overcoming challenges in email and OTP automation for end-to-end testing. His team’s success story using different libraries provided valuable insights for similar automation hurdles.
Apoorva Ram – “The Art of Storytelling for Testers”
- Apoorva eloquently highlighted the importance and impact of storytelling in a tester’s life. The ability to represent work through storytelling was emphasized, particularly for higher management comprehension.
My Talk: “From Good to Great: Enhancing Testability in Software Testing”
I and Mahathee Dandibhotla worked together on our presentation, highlighting the importance of testability in software testing. We talked about how crucial it is within a team and provided examples of testability models to enhance comprehension. These models serve as guidelines for us and the team to follow, helping us avoid potential challenges in the future.
Lessons Learned:
- Different Challenges Offline: Speaking in person comes with its own difficulties and can be a bit stressful. Being well-prepared is really important.
- Engaging Slides: Slides for presentations should be clear and interesting, able to keep the audience interested without needing constant explanation.
- Understanding the Topic Well: Knowing a lot about the subject gives a broader view, making the presentation better.
- Appreciating Feedback: Listening to and using feedback is crucial for getting better in future presentations.
- Being Flexible and Aware: Making sure the audience understands and connects with what you’re saying means being flexible and understanding the audience during your talk.
- Speaking Clearly: Practicing and having a clear plan help in speaking confidently and spontaneously.
- Connecting with the Audience: How the audience reacts is important – it tells you if they liked and understood what you said.
Conference Atmosphere and Networking:
The vibrant atmosphere of ATAGTR 2023 wasn’t limited to the sessions alone. Networking opportunities were abound, allowing for valuable connections with industry peers. Conversations during breaks and networking sessions provided a chance to delve deeper into the challenges and successes shared in the sessions. Plus, the delicious food undoubtedly added to the entire experience, making it a well-rounded and unforgettable event.
Looking Ahead:
ATAGTR 2023 left a lasting impression, and the lessons learned will undoubtedly shape my approach to future conferences and presentations. The conference not only expanded my knowledge but also provided a platform to contribute to the testing community. I look forward to implementing these insights and staying connected with the newfound network of professionals. ATAGTR 2023 was more than just a conference; it was an enriching experience that will resonate in my professional journey.
